District announces staff changes [UPDATED]

The following changes were announced and approved at the school board meeting on Jan. 28:

Certified Staff Hires: Claire Stich, social studies, effective Jan. 21; Kelly Arneson, short-term substitute PE teacher, effective Jan. 30.

Certified Staff Retirement: John Helland, special education teacher, effective March 18.

Certified Staff Resignation: Liza Klettke, business education-iQ Academy, effective Jan. 21.

Support Staff Hires: Jessica Aguilar, Truancy Intervention Specialist; ISS supervisor; bus duty; effective Jan. 22; Allison Svendsgaard, noon hour supervisor, Adams; effective Jan. 23.

A resolution was read regarding the retirement of John Helland, and there were many positive comments among the school board members.

“I first met John about ten years ago,” said school board member Jeff Hohrman. “He always has a smile, and does a great job with our students.”
