Thank you to all who participated in A Center for the Arts’ first annual “Fergus Falls Has Talent” community talent show on Saturday, Jan. 26.corresponding

More than 200 people came to see the show and close to 50 people performed on stage.

We had a blast and you are all winners.

Special congratulation to our three cash prize winners: Natalie Mojica (vocal and piano) of Breckenridge in the Adult category; the Swelstad Irish Dancers (Mary, Anna, Christina and Jack) of Battle Lake in the Youth category; and audience members selected “The Academy” (Jack Nelson, Brad Moore and Tommy Bowman on vocal, piano and synthesizer) of Fergus Falls to receive the People’s Choice Award.

Thank you also to our two official judges who chose the winners in the Adult and Youth categories. Robbyn Navatto and David Marty.

Between them, they have more than 60 years of experience in the performing arts. Navatto has been a talent agent for more than 20 years in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and New York. Marty is the President of Reif Arts Council, responsible for programming and managing the 645-seat Myles Reif Performing Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

A Center for the Arts had such a wonderful night, that we are definitely going to do a community talent show again next year.

Look for audition and performance information toward the end of 2013.
