WHEATON — The Pelican Rapids wrestlers look to shake off the rust from the holiday season against Border West.

After the dust cleared, the hosting Buccaneers edged out the Vikings 35-32 Thursday.

The teams traded wins back and forth in their hard fought battle.

Pelican Rapids took control as Ray Elizondo (138 lb.), Josh Klovstad (145 lb.) and Alex Diaz (152 lb.) each picked up wins in the middle weight classes.

The Buccaneers would not fold as they took the next three wins and kept it close the rest of the way through to win by a three point margin.

Diaz was named wrestler of the meet with his pin over Border West’s Eric Schwagel.

The Vikings will look to right the ship as they host a triangular Tuesday against Perham and Breckenridge at 5 p.m.
