A Fergus Falls man was convicted Tuesday for driving while intoxicated in July.

Micky Ray Defries, 54, of Fergus Falls was sentenced to 66 months at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud with 173 days credited to time served.

On July 21, 2012, a police officer was on patrol in the Eagle Lake area searching for the defendant on an active arrest warrant after information led the officer to believe the defendant was in the area. The officer recognized the defendant driving and pulled him over. The officer smelled alcohol from the vehicle.

The defendant claimed he was not who the officer was looking for and gave a different name. After being properly identified, the defendant refused to take sobriety tests and was transported to the Otter Tail City Jail, were he was tested and was found to have at least a blood alcohol level of .08.
