Read band trip blogs for insight

Members of the Fergus Falls Marching Band, perhaps still floating high from the experience of performing for the president during his inauguration parade, will soon tuck the memories in scrapbooks, boxes and the corners of their minds.

Several of the students will have written record of the trip because they blogged their experiences.

We suggest everyone take some time to read their memories of the trip at music.fergusotters.org. It will swell your chest with pride for the students and our community.

On Page 9 of today’s Journal, you may read snippets of those blogs. We tried to get a representative overview, but the band leaders, the chaperones and students all had a lot to say and we simply couldn’t fit it all in.

Throughout the blogs, both leaders and students expressed their thankfulness to the residents here for helping them raise the money to make this trip of a lifetime.

The mayor of Minneapolis said the band was representing the state, as well as Fergus Falls, and complimented them on the fine job they were doing as ambassadors.

It really should come as no surprise that these kids would do us here at home proud while in Washington — they hail from the best town in the best state of the union.
