Perham District has $1.2M deficit

The Perham-Dent School District will experience a decrease in revenue and an increase in expenditures, leaving the budget $1.2 million short, reported the Perham Focus.

The school board approved a revised budget which increased its deficit by $371,500 more than initially estimated. Lower-than-expected enrollment is the cause of the revenue loss, giving the district a $196,000 loss. Enrollment numbers came in about 35 students less this year.

An unexpected increase of $142,000 for technology is contributing to the increase in expenditures.

Overall, the district will take in $12.6 million and spend $13.8 million.
