Donald Harry “Gabe” Gabriel

Donald Gabriel, was born April 5,1929, in Battle Lake, Minnesota to Harry &

Dorothy (Anderson) Gabriel. Gabe graduated from Minnesota School for the Blind in Faribault where he learned piano tuning & music. He moved to Marshall in 1951 & opened a radio repair shop. Eventually he just did piano tuning and had his own band & played with many others.

On July 20 1984, Gabe was united in marriage to Lucille Berge-Hexum. The couple enjoyed spending the last 20 winters in Texas where he did some tuning, dancing, playing in Jams and also with different bands. Gabe also enjoyed being up at Lake Clitherall in the summer fishing and music.

Gabe died January 30, 2013 very peacefully at Life Care Hospital in McAllen, Texas after suffering a massive stroke on December 29, 2012 at home.

Grateful for being in his life are his wife, Lucille; brother-in-law, Lyle Berge; daughter, Gabrielle’ B.(and James) Heard; stepchildren, Sheryl Tverberg, Daryl Otten, Cindy Tubbs, Gwendolyn Janigian, Ben (and Jennifer) Hexum; step-grandchildren, Tammy Zimmel, Travis and Jessica Tubbs, Matthew (and Luisa), Rachel and Rebecca Bueno, Peter and Leah Janigian, Andrew, Devin and Derek Hexum; great-grandson, Ryan; uncle, Jim Anderson; nephews, Terry(and Sue) Nelson and Tom (and Beth) Nelson; and many other relatives.

Gabe was preceded in death by his parents; parents in-law, Martin and Etta Berge, granddaughter, Kim Tverberg; sister & brother-in law, Betty and Merv Nelson; two wives, Linnea and Shirley; sister & brother-in law, Linda & Mich Hasch; and uncles and aunts.

Gabe will be greatly missed.
