Mildred Thormodson, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at Sanford Health in Fargo.primitive

Mildred Eleanor Bystol was born March 10, 1927, in Ashby, the daughter of Knute and Alma (Anonson) Bystol. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashby. She attended school in Ashby, graduating from Ashby High School. After graduating, Mildred worked in Fergus Falls.

Mildred was united in marriage to Nelvin G. Thormodson on September 25, 1949 in Ashby. Their life was spent farming in the Dalton area where they were involved in dairy and later raising sheep. They retired in 2008 and moved to Fergus Falls.

She was a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was involved with WELCA. Most notably, Mildred served as organist for over forty years, retiring twice and played for scores of weddings and funerals over the years.

Mildred was actively involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities throughout the years, which include 4H, music programs and sporting events. As a resident of Pioneer Pointe, Mildred seldom missed a “Friday Sing-a-long”, where she played piano.

Mildred was very caring, compassionate, and will be remembered for her willingness to help others.

Mildred is survived by her children: Gaylan (Marcia) Thormodson of Dalton, Gerald (Danette) Thormodson of Fergus Falls, Robert (Susan) Thormodson of Dalton, Patricia (Dean) Rix of Fergus Falls, Bonnie (Arlan) Herbranson of Clitherall and James (Kristine) Thormodson of Eleva, WI; 18 grandchildren, Michael, Joel, Thomas, Krista, Lisa, Megan, Greta, Adam, Brian, Darin, Jessie, Lynn, Amy, Erin, Abby, Garrett, Ian and Austin; 8 great-grandchildren, Anna, Jayson, Emma, Lexie, Brody, Jack, Owen and Nora; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Nelvin on March 9, 2011; a brother, Stanley; and sisters, Edith, Mabel, Alice and Arlene.

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Our Saviors Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church

Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: Our Saviors Cemetery, Dalton
