Council approves re-zoning requestsPublished 11:34am Tuesday, February 5, 2013
Re-zoning and permit requests for three Fergus Falls businesses were approved at Monday’s City Council meeting.
The council heard from the Planning Commission regarding rezoning land parcels belonging to Paul Beyer and Matt Skjeret. The zoning change would turn parcels of each owners property from residential (R-A) to business (B-2).
The rezoning request was approved, and will go to the City Attorney to draft the Commission’s proposed ordinances.
Beyer’s re-zoning request would allow part of his property, which also contains Beyer Body Shop and Towing on Pebble Lake Road, be used for a potential business expansion in the future. Skjeret’s request involves re-zoning an adjacent parcel he owns at 2521 Pebble Lake Road, and a permit to operate a vehicle maintenance and repair business on the land.
Skjeret’s permit request was approved by the council.
The council also heard and approved a resolution to grant a conditional use permit for a one-chair salon in a residential area for Courtney Larson.
In order for Larson to operate the salon out of her home at 1216 N. Burlington in Fergus Falls, the council agreed to a conditional use permit, including several restrictions. The operation can be services only- no retail sales can be made unless the products are made in the residence. The work hours are to be part-time- from 4:30 to 9 p.m. by appointment, and the salon is limited in size to one-third of the residence.
