The Fergus Falls girls team finished the season on a sour note as the River Lakes Stars topped the Otters 5-3 at the Community Ice Arena Monday.

The Stars got on the board first as Erin Powell took a Rachael Prozinski pass and slipped it into the Fergus net midway through the period. Lauren Norgren was able to tie the game up less than two minutes later as she lit the lamp unassisted.

River Lakes would build a two goal lead after the second period of play as Shelby Teal and Allie Stanger each notched a goal.

Fergus would come storming back in the third period as Steph Kolstad and Sydney Kuehl would score back-to-back goals to tie the game at three goals apiece. River Lakes would not back down as Jocie Kooiman recorded a pair of goals, one an empty net goal, to give the visitor the victory.

The Stars placed 39 shots on goal as Otter netminder Jordie Salwei turned away 34 shots. Fergus did not get many second chance looks and recorded only 23 shots on net.

The Otters finished the season 9-13-2 and will wait for seeding in the Section 6 playoffs.
