WILLMAR — The hosting Willmar Cardinals were able to use a 20 point run to propel them ahead of the Fergus Falls boys Tuesday 62-45 in a Central Lakes Conference tilt.

Fergus Falls held a small lead over Willmar 29-26, but the Cardinals saw the light turn on as they got hot from the field with 12 minutes to play. The Otters could not respond to the scoring attack of their host as they got back on the bus with the loss.

“Willmar played a great full court press defense,” Otter assistant Derek Abrahams said. “Our guys held in there, but we didn’t shoot the ball that well.”

Kyler Johnson led the Cardinals with 19 tallies, while Austin Rambow threw down 17 of his own in the win.l

Mike Millard and Austin Rund were the only Fergus players in double figures with 15 points a piece. Rund would finish the game with a double-double as he pulled down 13 rebounds.

The Otters hope for the same luck they had earlier in the season against the St. Cloud Tech Tigers as the two teams will square off in a CLC showdown Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
