Underwood Scouts recognized for achievements in 2012
Published 11:17am Wednesday, February 6, 2013On Jan. 26, Underwood Boy Scout Troop 325 recognized several scouts for their acheivements in 2012.
A Court of Honor/Potluck at the Underwood Community Center was hosted with family and friends filling the room with hotdishes, bars, turkey and goodwill.
Aaron Thompson (Eagle Scout 2012) presented Ryan Hansen, Austin Link and Braydon Consley to the Advancement Committee for recognition. Ryan and Braydon recieved the rank of Life Scout which will kick off their journey to Eagle.
Austin Link received the rank of Star Scout for his service to self, community and God. The young men shared stories of their service, learning, camping and personal growth with the group. Andrew Jenson was recognized and crossed over from Cub Pack 325 to Troop 325. Andrew brought a big smile and enthusiasm to the event and will join the Troop on their trip to Camp Wilderness next month.
Troop 325 also camped at Moccasin Valley Camp near Erhard last month. The boys cooked a lasagna and baked rolls in dutch ovens, tended the fire all night and hosted several Cub Packs the next day. The following morning brought heavy snow. The Wolverine Patrol geared up with their backpacks of supplies, collected wood and built an 8 foot high fire set out of the poles and logs they had collected and lashed together. The wide-eyed Cubs were greeted that morning to an outdoor flag ceremony and 12 foot flames.
Oxcart District Executive, James Stratton, presented the Friends of Scouting program to the families of Pack and Troop 325.
Nearly $1,500 was raised to fund future scout programs, Camp Wilderness, and Eagle Scout projects in Underwood, Fergus Falls and Battle Lake. The Fergus Falls DayCamp at Prairie Wetlands Center was announced and will be hosted June 21 and 22.
