Mary Kort, 87, of Henning

Mary Helen Wearne was born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Bloomfield, Neb.. Her parents were the late Dewey and Ruth (Blake) Wearne. Mary graduated from Bloomfield High School with the Class of 1944.
She was employed with Miller and Payne Department Store and sewed clothing for the Terri Lee Doll Company.
In 1968, Mary and family moved from Lincoln, Neb., to Battle Lake in order to operate Napanee Resort on West Battle Lake. She was employed with the Bursch Drug Store in Henning, from 1970 to 1990. On Sept. 28, 1974, Mary married Vernon Kort at the Methodist Church in Henning.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing and making crafts.
She and Vern enjoyed doing yard work together and going on walks around the neighborhood. Church was very important to Mary. She was active in Bible study, quilters, WELCA and many other activities at Good Shepherd.
For the past two years Mary has resided and was lovingly cared for at Heritage Cottage in Fergus Falls.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, Dewey and Ruth; her first husband, William “Bill” True; brothers, Richard (Marcella) and Walter; and a grandson, Douglas.
Mary is survived by her husband, Vernon Kort of Henning; children, Susan (Owen) Porter of Port Townsend, Wash.; Thomas (Sue) True of Bellevue, Neb., Amy (Jim) Davis of Grand Rapids, Robert True of Blaine; Pam (Donn) Hoffman of Litchfield; grandchildren, Sarah (Richard) Raymond, Rebekah (Derek) Brown, Rachel (Shayne) Jones, Heather (Ben) Zychalski, Ryan True, Jeff (Melanie) True, Nathan (Mandi) Davis, Casey (Jessica)Davis, Joshua (Nicole) True, Kayla (Kyle) Olson, Jessica True; Jay (Cindy) Hoffman, Jeremy (Laura) Hoffman, Sara (Thad) Johnson, and Josh (Kristi) Hoffman; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Georgia) Wearne of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Paul (Pat) Wearne of Kissee Mills, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Luree Wearne Boersma of Omaha, Neb., Donna True of Papillion, Neb., Dorothy Delozier of Townsend, Tenn., Joyce True of Battle Lake and Dee True of Wausa, Neb.; many other relatives; beloved friend, Elvira Erickson; and a host of others.
Service: 1 p.m. Friday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning Clergy: Rev. Roger Johnson
