What could be better for a family winter activity than skiing through candle-lit, forested parkland? Perhaps warming up around a fire, roasting marshmallows and having a hot beverage.Edward

Minnesota state parks and trails will host 32 candlelight events this winter, including an event at Glendalough State Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, starting at the trail center.

The trail is one and a half miles and suitable for beginner-level skiers of all ages.

There is no charge for the candle-lit ski event itself, but a vehicle permit is required to enter Minnesota state parks, and a Great Minnesota Ski Pass is required for those 16 and older to ski. The parking pass is $5 for a one day permit or $25 for a year-round permit. The ski pass is $6 daily or $20 for one season.

The event may be changed or canceled due to weather. For more information, including information on ski rentals, call the park at 218-864-0110.
