Comet girls fall to Chargers

The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team brought a fury of offense to Hillcrest Thursday night. With three players scoring in double digits, the Chargers cruised to a 62-44 victory.

Emily Friedrich topped the Charger’s score column with 17 points. Carlie Steffenson followed up with 13, while Megan Friedrich added 10.

Despite only scoring 14 in the first half, the Comets put up a fight with 30 in the second. Leading Hillcrest’s surge was the duo of Kelsey Nersten and Abbe Monacelli, who finished with 18 and 12 points, respectively.

Brandon-Evansville will be back in action next Thursday, when they host Battle Lake at 6:15. Hillcrest suits up Saturday at home against Ortonville. The game will begin at 3:30.
