Post office hours may be cut back in Wendell
Published 11:18am Friday, February 8, 2013Wendell residents met recently to discuss proposed changes to the community’s postal service and post office hours, according to the Grant County Herald.
Upon completion of a survey detailing a list of possible scenarios, 85 percent of Wendell’s postal customers prefer the option of realigning the hours to keep the post office open.
Other options included delivering to mail boxes only, utilizing a nearby post office in another town, or putting a post office in an existing business in the community.
The Wendell postmaster tracked usage and found the majority of business was conducted in the morning, meaning being open in the morning makes the most sense, according to Post Office District Supervisor Pete Slabik.
Potential new hours could be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A decision is planned in the next week or two.
