ALEXANDRIA – The Fergus Falls boys swimming and diving team recorded its 13 best times, six All-Conference honors and a fifth place finish as they competed in the Central Lakes Conference Championships Saturday.
Continuing their dominance in diving this season, Otters Michael Aasness (427.60) and Reid Magnusson (364.55) went one, two in the diving competition as each claimed All-Conference honors.
Mikey Pistulka just missed taking the final podium as he finished in fourth place with 329.5 score for an All-Conference honorable mention.
Joe Kitzman and Cal Mouritsen each picked up two All-Conference nods at the meet. Kitzman captured first in both the 100 backstroke (55.71) and 100 fly (53.29), while Mouritsen took first in the 200 IM (2:06.59) and second in the 100 freestyle (49.52).
Senior Clay Danielson, Connor Hatfield, Mike Mortenson, Daniel Kowalski, Luke Raitz, Isaac Nadgewick, Dalton Mouritsen and Justin Mortenson all recorded best times in their individual events. Nadgewick and Mortenson each qualified for Sections in the 200 freestyle.
“As a team, we swam great and had a number of boys qualify for a section position,” Otter coach Tom Uvaas said. “Our relays swam great time drops and moved up. It was an outstanding showing for this young team.”
The Otters will be back in action Friday, Feb. 22 when they travel to Bemidji for the Section 3A meet.
