‘Jackets win Sect. 8A gymnastics title
Published 10:46am Monday, February 18, 2013PARK RAPIDS — The Perham Yellowjacket gymnastics team was able to edge the Detroit Lakes Lakers to claim their 11th straight gymnastics title Saturday.
The Yellowjackets score of 145.05 was just good enough as the Lakers took runner-up honors with 144.175. Little Falls rounded out the top three with a 131.675 score.
The Fergus Falls gymnastics team finished in fifth with 125.025.
“The girls finished their season well today,” Otter coach Erin Larson said.
Carolina Wagnild had personal bests on the vault and beam with scores of 8.4 and 7.9, while teammate Camryn Appert had bests on beam and floor with 8.15 and an 8.275 and a best all around score of 32.175.
“We made some great improvements this season and the girls are already thinking ahead to next season. It will be exciting to see them continue to improve in the future,” added Larson.
