A Pelican Rapids snowplow driver was involved in a four-vehicle crash that killed two and injured another Monday afternoon near Barnesville.

Judith Reid, 49, of Minnetonka, and her passenger, Sean Ray, 49, of Minnetonka, were killed in the accident. Passenger Evan Ray, 16, of Minnetonka, was also seriously injured.

A Kenworth semi-tractor driven by Leland Miller, 56, of Story City, Iowa, was traveling in the left lane while a Minnesota Department of Transportation plow driven by Paul Bakken, 55, of Pelican Rapids, was plowing the right lane.

Reid, the driver, attempted to pass between the semi and the plow, striking both and stalling in the lane. It was then struck by a Dodge Ram driven by Charles Boyd, 65, of Stoughton, Saskatchewan, according to the State Patrol.

Boyd suffered minor injuries.

In North Dakota, I-94 was closed for about five hours Monday in a series of crashes leading to a 10-vehicle pileup. One wreck was caused by a motorist who drove around road closures to get onto the interstate.

Five people were treated at a Jamestown hospital for injuries.

National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kaiser said that while temperatures will be “raw” this week, he expects clear conditions.
