A early second half rally, was cut short by the visiting Rocori Spartans as they Fergus Falls boys suffered a 68-57 Central Lakes Conference loss.

Before the game, the Otters honored senior post Mike Millard for setting the Fergus Falls High School boys basketball all-time scoring record.

The Spartans were unphased by the ovation from the home crowd as they began to work on the Otter defense.

Fergus fell into some foul trouble in the early going and saw Rocori walk off the court with a 27-22 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Otters looked to stand their ground as they were able to pull back to within one point midway through the game, but a chilling three point shot by the Spartans kept the host at bay for the rest of the evening.

“We got into foul trouble in the first half and were able to stay within striking distance,” Otter coach Dave Rund said. “Our posts did a nice job with the high low game in the second half, but Rocori was able to pull away.”

Austin Rund led the Otter scorers with 23 points, hitting four of four three pointers in the second half. Millard finished the evening with 19 tallies in the game.

The Otters, who currently hold the number one seed in the Section 8AAA North, take on the Southern division leader in Sartell-St. Stephen Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m.
