Bosek beat buzzer as Spartans rally past Cyclones 92-91Published 8:28am Thursday, February 21, 2013
ST. CLOUD — The St. Cloud Tech Cyclones were ready to leave the court Wednesday night to celebrate a five point victory over the visiting M State Spartans. The Spartans, of course, had other things in mind.
In a 25 second flurry, M State rallied from behind and stole a win off a buzzer beating three pointer by sophomore Shane Bosek 92-91.
The rally began with Jordan Nelson making the first of two free throws. The second bounced off the rim into the waiting arms of Bosek. Bosek dished the ball to the top of the key where Nelson followed through to hit a contested trey to cut the lead to one.
The Spartans would foul the Cyclones’ Riley West with under eight seconds to play. West would make the second of two free throws to give the home team a two point cushion.
M State was able to move up the court and setup the cold-blooded shot of Bosek to take the win.
Boomer Blossom led the M State men in scoring with 24 points, while the hero of the game Bosek finished with 23.
Teammates Chuckie Smith and Nelson had 17 and 13 points, respectively.
The Spartans will look to end their regular season on the upswing as they host the Ridgewater Warriors Saturday at 3 p.m.
