A call to police to check on the welfare of a family member turned into an assault arrest.

Lisa Morimoto-Bontjes was arrested for fourth degree assault of a police officer and disorderly conduct Thursday night.

Police were called to a residence in Dalton when a family member requested assistance, stating that Bontjes may have overdosed on alcohol and prescription pain killers and was possibly suicidal.

Bontjes had left the residence on foot when police arrived. Three deputies searched for her for an hour. When a peace officer put a hold on Bontjes and tried to assist her in an ambulance for transport to the hospital, Bontjes became irate and assaulted the officer. She was then restrained and transported to Lake Region Hospital in a squad car.

Bontjes continued to swear and assault an officer while in the emergency room. When she was released from the hospital, she was arrested and taken to jail.
