ROTHSAY– It was a game of two halves for the Rothsay girls basketball team on Thursday night. The Tigers took the visiting Henning Hornets to a 27-27 tie at halftime, but could only muster eight points in the second half, giving the Hornets a 55-35 win.

“The girls played an excellent first half with a very strong team,” said Rothsay head coach Jesse Arbuckle. “In the second half we got away from the things that we were doing right on offense and got impatient. Henning capitalized on that, and they were just too much for us down low in the second half.”

Casey Haugdahl had a standout night for Henning, dropping in 24 points to lead the team. Megan Richter contributed 16 to the Hornets’ final score.

Lexy Dunbar and Ashley Maack led the Tigers in scoring, with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Rothsay hosts Norman Country West on Saturday. The Hornets will host Hancock next Thursday in their first game of the Section 6A basketball tournament.
