BATTLE LAKE – The Battle Lake girls were able to start their second season the right way as they defeated the visiting Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines 43-33.

A slow start did not phase the Battlers as they were able to pull away from the Wolverines for the 10 point victory.

Battle Lake’s Katie Rilla (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Carly VanWatermulen (10 points, 11 rebounds) both picked up double-doubles, while teammate Maddy Merickel dropped in 12 points of her own in the win.

The Battlers will now move on into Section 6A playoffs and take on Little Eight Conference rival Underwood in a Thursday 7 p.m. showcase.
