She was born on Dec. 7, 1920, in Oscar Township in Otter Tail County, the daughter of John and Clara (Hovland) Moen.

She was baptized and confirmed at Friborg Church of rural Rothsay.

She grew up in Trondhjem Township where she attended school at District 89.

Ilene also worked for several area families in her early years.

On Dec. 25, 1941, she married Lloyd Lien at Our Saviors Parsonage in Rothsay. The couple farmed and raised their children on the family farm.

Ilene was an active member of the South Immanuel Church and its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, scrapbooking, reminiscing and God’s nature.

She was a kind-hearted woman who always put the concerns of others ahead of herself. She was especially devoted to her family.

Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; grandson, Troy Honrud; a son-in-law, Donald Danielson; and her twin sister, Irene Ronningen.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Barbara) Lien of Moorhead and Rodney Lien of Rothsay; two daughters, JoAnn Danielson and Sandra (Donald) Honrud, both of Battle Lake; five grandchildren, Shelly Sagerhorn, Angela (Jeff) Overby, Dondra Honrud, Christopher (Rikki) Lien and Sara Lien; 10 great-grandchildren, Kasie, Kaitlyn, Emma, Justin, Garrett, Hailee, Ethan, Elliot, Edison and Elijah; seven sisters, Delia (Lyle) Johnson, Evelyn (Robert) Lamm, Avis Zimmerman, Judith (Kenneth) Toso, Charlotte Moen, Gerry Drechsel, and Ardell Moen; and one brother, Donald (Marie) Moen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at South Immanuel Church, rural Rothsay

Burial: South Immanuel Church Cemetery, rural Rothsay
