The Lake Region Writers Network wants your best poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for it’s annual publication, Lake Region Review 3. The submission deadline is June 1, 2013. The Lake Region Writers Network is a volunteer organization that cultivates writers and celebrates fine writing from and about rural Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas. Guidelines and submission information are available on the Network’s website: According to Ruth Solie (Detroit Lakes), President of the Lake Region Writers Network, “The Lake Region Review is one of the many things the network does to support the writing life in this part of the Midwest.”

Solie, a librarian and reader for the Minnesota Book Awards notes, “The Lake Region Review features some of the best creative writing in the Minnesota -Eastern Dakota Region.”

Athena Kildegaard, of Morris, MN is the publication’s Editor-in-Chief. Athena is a widely recognized Minnesota poet and author and teaches at the University of Minnesota, Morris. She says, “We’ve got a talented and discerning team of editors. Combine that with the strong writing in our region and this issue is sure to be the best yet!”

The magazine’s Managing Editor, Luke Anderson of Battle Lake, describes the publication as,“an 8-by-5-inch soft-cover book of about 170 pages which includes the poetry, fiction, and nonfiction work of about thirty authors. The cover-art features the work of a regionally recognized visual artist.”

Lake Region Review No. 3 will be released in early October 2013 at the Network’s Fall Writers Conference held at M-State-Fergus Falls.

It will be distributed to all public libraries in the region and for sale in local independent book stores as well as local art fairs and reading events throughout the year.
