Helen Erie, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, as the result of a stroke.0301.obit.Erie

She was born in St. Olaf Township on Nov. 22, 1917, to Christopher and Julia (Reierson) Risbrudt. She attended District school 2 and graduated from Ashby High School.

On April 12, 1942, she married Loren Erie.

Helen’s life was a work of art. She developed and maintained long-term friendships, wrote beautiful letters, grew wonderful vegetables and flowers, created spectacular meals, quilted and crocheted cozy blankets, and made her grandchildren feel special. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she lived by her Christian beliefs. She was so genuine and caring.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Julia Risbrudt; and her five brothers, Ralph, Chester, Ervin, Glenn and Herbert.

She leaves to celebrate her memory, her husband of 70 years, Loren; a daughter, Julene Bescheinen; son Steven (Lynn); eight grandchildren, Beth (John) Haupt, Dan (Susan) Larson, Sue (Bruce) Grupe, Willie Bescheinen, Steve (KT) Bescheinen, Melissa (John) Fitzgerald, Matthew Erie and Lucas Erie; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Wanda Risbrudt and Evelyn Risbrudt.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Our Savior’s Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church, Dalton
