Otter divers have good first day at state

Senior Michael Aasness and junior Reid Magnuson took to the boards Thursday for the Fergus Falls diving team in the preliminary round of the state championships at the University of Minnesota pool.

After eight dives, Aasness took the fourth spot with a score of 263.90. Magnusson finished the day with a score of 221.90, which was good enough for 12th.

Both divers will be in action again on Friday when they try to move up their finishing spots in the championship round.

The swimmers will also begin their preliminaries Friday. Joe Kitzman (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) and Cal Mouritsen (100 fly, 200 IM) will compete in individual events as well as being a part of the 400 freestyle relay team, which include Clay Danielson and Luke Raitz, and the 200 medley relay, with Danielson and Dan Kowalski.
