Rockets advance, top Battlers

The Underwood girls basketball team welcomed in Highway 210 and Little Eight Conference rival Battle Lake Thursday night for the quarterfinal round of the Section 6A tournament. After leading for most of the night, the Rockets went on to claim victory 56-44.

Carly Masloski led the Rockets with 22 points and eight boards. Megan Bielger followed up with 12 points and six rebounds.

For the Battlers, Maddy Merickel and Emily Marso both put in 15 points on the night. Marso also led the team with eight rebounds.

Underwood, now 20-6 on the season, will travel to the University of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday night to face the 15-9 Brandon/Evansville Chargers. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m.
