West Central Minnesota Communities Action recently received a grant of $55,066 to support as many as 564 senior volunteers in Douglas, Grant, Stevens, Traverse, and Pope counties.

The grants, funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), support Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon’s ongoing efforts to empower and connect senior citizens with opportunities to improve their communities through service.

“There is nothing more powerful in our communities than getting out and volunteering for others,” said Rep. McNamar.

West Central Minnesota Communities Action is a resource agency dedicated to reducing the effects of poverty, helping people to achieve self-sufficiency, and improving the quality of rural life. They are based out of Elbow Lake.
