He was born November 5, 1935, in Fergus Falls, the son of Harry and Gertrude (Fairbanks) Marquard. He attended school at Elizabeth District #1399 through 8th grade, and then Fergus Falls High School, graduating in 1953.

On November 18, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Luebke at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. He worked at Otter Tail Power Company for 40 years, doing surveying, drafting and land management.

On May 25, 1996, he married Gen Gunderson at Augustana Lutheran Church and they made their home in Fergus Falls.

Larry was a member of the Eagles, serving as President and Trustee, and a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. He served as the mayor of Elizabeth for many years. He was also a member of the Elizabeth Fire Department from December 7, 1960 – December 10, 1983, serving as Fire Chief for 16 years.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and cooking, summers at Ten Mile Lake with Gen and friends, and time spent with numerous friends at the Eagles.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Sharon, in 1994, and his wife, Gen in 2007, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include his children: Coleen (Dan) Stinchfield of Elizabeth, Steve Marquard (special friend Dawn) of Fergus Falls, Brian Marquard of Fergus Falls, and stepson Eric (Greg) Gunderson of Fargo; grandchildren, Ann, Erin, Bree and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Shelby, Savannah, and Brayden; and brothers-in-law LaDell Neu and Kenny Dahl.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran church, Fergus Falls

Burial: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, Elizabeth
