A shed in rural New York Mills was considered a total loss after it caught fire Friday evening.

The 30-foot by 60-foot shed of Charles Jacobson, rural New York Mills, was fully engulfed in flames when New York Mills firefighters arrived just before 7 p.m. Friday, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department news release.

In addition to the shed, a skidsteer loader, a gravity box of oats, about 30 bales of hay and other farm items were destroyed. A local neighbor assisted the fire department by removing some of the bales with his skidsteer and allowing access to the fire, the news release reported.

The Deer Creek Fire Department also assisted.
