Verna Stahl, formerly Wahpeton, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Pioneer Cottages in Breckenridge.0303.obit.Stahlexperimental

Verna was born July 25, 1924, at Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Mary (Bishop) Holey. Verna attended school at Petersburg, Neb. She worked at St. Edward’s Hospital in Genoa, Neb.

In 1945, she married James A. Stahl in Albion, Neb. and later lived in Oakdale and Stanton, Ne, before moving to near Fergus Falls, MN where they farmed. They moved to Montana, where her husband died on July 19, 1969.

She returned to the area and lived in Elbow Lake, and Fergus Falls, before living in Wahpeton with her mother for several years. She entered the Pioneer Cottages in Breckenridge, in 2008.

Verna is survived by her brother, Robert (Kathy) Holey, Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Margaret Stahl, Fergus Falls; Anna (Art) Fjestad, Fergus Falls; Dorothy Loken, Wadena; Mary (Vernon) Ingbretson, Libby, Mont.; Nancy Hagen, Breckenridge; grandchildren, Barb, James, Joe and David; great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; a daughter, Barbara Stahl; and her son, James L. Stahl.

Service: 2 p.m. Friday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church

Burial: Will be in Montana.

Funeral Home: Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, N.D.
