MOORHEAD – The Pelican Rapids Viking girls were able to shake off a slow start as they cashed their ticket into the Section 8AA championship game after defeating the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 54-44 Tuesday.
Both teams put out a strong effort in the first half as they walked off the court tied 21-21.
In the second half, Pelican turned on the intensity and pulled away for the 10 point victory.
Mackenzie Korf was again led the Vikings in scoring with 15 points and a perfect eight for eight from the charity stripe, while sister Madison was also in double figures with 13 tallies.
Madison Korf, Alyssa Huseby and Lincoln Haiby attacked the glass as each pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
The Vikings will now take on the Section 8AA North number one seed Crookston at 7 p.m. at Bemidji State University Friday.
This will be the first meeting for the two teams as each carries in a record of 20 or more wins.
