Pelican Rapids man convicted for DWI [UPDATED]

Gary Dee Pepper, 51, of Pelican Rapids, was convicted Feb. 27 for gross misdemeanor DWI-refuse to submit to chemical test. He was sentenced by Judge Barbara Hanson in Otter Tail County District Court to 180 days in Otter Tail County Jail, with 170 days stayed for six years. He is to serve 10 days starting March 13.

According to the criminal complaint, Pepper failed four sobriety tests just before 8 p.m. Oct. 20, 2012 in Pelican Rapids. He first refused to field sobriety testing before later agreeing, the report says. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol level was 0.176.
