The Irish are coming. And they will be here the day before our March 18 Y’s Folk Association noon lunchen (catered meal by Joe at Lake Way Market), business meeting and entertainment.

President Larry says there is some business to take care of, to decide how much money we should give to the YMCA, they love us, it won’t take long.

We are “Going Green” in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and the members have been asked to Dress Green. We will have Green Punch and some Green Food and an all “green go ahead” with entertainment coming over from Wahpeton.

Tilford Kroshus and his Krew have agreed to come show us how it is done again. If you remember, they have been here before.

I remember Tilford from the Dance Club years here in Fergus Falls. We often danced up at the Eagles Club. Tilford is so very great.

Tilford was born in Minnesota but grew up and went to early school in Valley City. His music was piano and trombone with lots of practice in Sunday School and church.

He played in band all through high school and at Augsburg and Valley City State Colleges getting a degree in dance band and history. He taught music in ND schools for a time before he went to teach grade five at Topuepala, Peru, South America for a year.

He then settled into teaching music at Wahpeton Science for 35 years and directed choir at Bethel Lutheran for 47 years.

He and wife Mary, of over 50 years, have two musical sons and two musical grand children who love to come to their Pickeral Lake summer home most any time.

Remember, dress green, we will drink and eat green and there may be some surprises along the way. Guests are welcome. Another celebration day in March is Easter this year and each of us may worship on that day in a church of our choice. The Easter Egg hunt for kids at the Y is on March 23 with a free will donation going to the food shelf here in town.

The Battle of the Bulge ends March 29 and on their first weigh-in 27 teams had lost 294 pounds. Keep it up – you love it. Youth Volley Ball starts March 19 for kids in grades one through six. Sign up at the front desk.

Now is a chance for everyone in the community to help out the YMCA financially. The Cliff and Doris Maxwell annual Giving Campaign starts March 12 and goes through April 11 with a restructured approach to giving.

You may be contacted. The Y needs you.

Remember we play bridge on Monday.
