Battlers dominate C-G-B

It seemed easy for the Battle Lake boys team Saturday as they cruised to a 78-44 victory over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in the Section 6A quarterfinals at the University of Minnesota-Morris.

The Wolverines did not know what hit them in the first half as the high paced Battler offense was able to gain a 45-23 lead before the break.

When it rains, it pours and C-G-B forgot to bring their umbrella as Battle Lake continued to pour on the shots and finished the game outscoring the Wolverines 33-21.

Tony Ukkelberg led the Battlers with 17 points, while teammates Dan Marso (16), Tyler Ukkelberg (14) and Petric VanErp (12) were also in double figures.

VanErp added a double-double to his stat line as he pulled down 10 boards in the win.

The Battlers will now head back to the U of M-Morris as they take on the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors, who upset top-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 66-59, in the Section 6A semi-final at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
