After losing two tough games on Sunday, the Spartan boys baseball team bounced back to split their doubleheader on Monday, obtaining their first win of the season.

Dylan Deavy started pitching the first game for the Spartans, and was able to keep the opposition at bay for the first four innings, not allowing a run. He ran into the trouble in the fifth though when Schenectady Community College got a few lucky bounces mixed in with a few hits and put up eight runs. The Spartans would score one before the game came to a close but it wasn’t enough bringing the game to its final score of 8-1.

The second game brought put Fergus Falls in a matchup once again against Erie Community College. A first inning home run by Ryan Beyer helped spark Fergus Falls to score seven runs before the game was over. Peter Gaustad had a great game on the mound as he pitched five scoreless innings recording five strikeouts. Austin Host threw the last two innings and gave up only one run. The Spartans will play a doubleheader Tuesday against the Ontario Outlaws as they look to add to their win total.
