Orlo Thompson performs at Church of Peace [UPDATED]Published 10:01am Thursday, March 14, 2013 Updated 12:05pm Thursday, March 14, 2013
Church of Peace United Methodist will host Orlo Thompson at the 9 a.m. Sunday, worship service.
Orlo will perform special music on his keyboard and delight us with his country gospel vocals.
Orlo and Betty Thompson are great grandparents and have farmed the family farm southwest of Barrett, MN for many years.
Orlo’s love of music began as early as four years of age as he remembers singing in church and continued to be a major part of his life as he grew into adulthood.
As a young man in his twenties, he moved to Nashville and pursued a professional music career. Orlo played bass and was a backup singer for Ferlin Husky during the late 50s and 60s.
They performed in the Grand Ole Opry, toured Europe and charted regularly on Capitol records. Husky was one of the first country music entertainers to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Orlo returned to Minnesota to farm and raise his family.
He continues to share his love of country gospel music and his gift of song with family, neighbors, and friends in our local communities, events, and area churches.
Everyone is welcome at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 17 at Church of Peace, 1500 South Cascade, Fergus Falls.
Coffee fellowship prior to the service.
