Another blizzard hits FF areaPublished 11:47am Monday, March 18, 2013
Two days until spring, and old man winter isn’t done with us yet.
The two to three inches of snowfall met winds that gusted to 37 miles per hour Sunday evening and Monday, causing many impassable drifts and white-out conditions around the area.
The blizzard closed schools in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area. At 6:30 a.m. Monday, Interstate 94 was closed from Alexandria to Fargo and Highway 210 was closed west of Fergus Falls. Highway 10 from Fargo to Wadena was also closed.
MnDOT had a “no travel” warning posted for most other highways in the region. The State Patrol reminds motorists that drivers can be fined up to $1,000 and sentenced to 90 days in jail for traveling on a road that’s closed.
Forecasts called for 1 to 2 inches more snow through the day today with the morning’s wind swinging more to the northwest as the morning progresses.
Due to the weather and the cancellation of classes, the Fergus Falls Mass Band Concert will be postponed to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.
