Enderle joins PRH in Elbow Lake [UPDATED]Published 10:01am Monday, March 18, 2013 Updated 12:04pm Monday, March 18, 2013
Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services is pleased to welcome Katrina Enderle, Physician Assistant (PA) to their medical staff. Katrina originally hails from Fergus Falls.
Not only does Katrina look forward to becoming a resident of this area and make a difference in the lives of patients she treats, it is equally important for Enderle to bring her experiences back to her patients and those she works with.
“I have been a Type I Diabetic for almost 17 years. Because of this, I am also interested in working with the diabetic population to help support them and help control their disease; it is very manageable disease and I feel that I have the tools to help patients achieve this.”
Enderle comes to PRHHS with a multitude of medical and patient-focused experience.
A 2008 graduate of Concordia College (Moorhead), Katrina received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology minoring in chemistry, with a focus on pre-medicine studies.
While at Concordia, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on a progressive cardiac care unit in Fargo. It is there she cared for patients recovering from open heart surgery, recent pace maker implants and recent heart attacks. She also completed a pre-medicine co-op experience through the College.
Upon graduation, Enderle continued her skills with direct patient care as an employee of Lake Region Healthcare by serving as a Phlebotomist for 2 1/2 years in the laboratory; while there, she also gained experience as an autopsy assistant.
For the past two years, Katrina has been preparing for her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (DMU) in Des Moines, Iowa.
In both the Iowa and Fergus Falls areas, Katrina is nearing completion of her 12-month PA rotation and clinical studies through DMU. Throughout these arduous rotations, she has gained valuable knowledge and experience in cardiology, oncology, general surgery, emergency medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, internal and family medicine fields.
“I join the Prairie Ridge medical community in welcoming Katrina as she joins the Elbow Lake clinic and hospital staff this summer,” said Dr. David T. Bjork, Internal Medicine, Chief Medical Officer of Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services. “I have had the opportunity to follow her progress as she has pursued her medical education and am delighted that she has elected to join our group. I know that she will do a wonderful job in helping to better the health and well-being of the people she serves. With her vibrant personality and strong family roots in the Elbow Lake community she will be a real asset to PRHHS.”
In her spare time, Katrina likes running, all modes of skiing, cooking and reading. She also enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family at their lake cabin.
Katrina will join the medical staff at Prairie Ridge in the late summer of 2013.
