ARDEN HILLS – Cristina Masten was recently named a 2013 D-III West Second Team All-American by United States College Hockey Online. Masten was one of just 24 NCAA D-III women’s hockey players honored as a first or second team All-American after leading the MIAC in scoring and setting new Bethel records in points (37) and goals scored (24). She is the third Bethel Royal to earn All-American honors and the second straight season the Royals have had an All-American selection after Anna Carlson earned the honors in 2011-12.

Masten’s MIAC leading point total ranked seventh in the country and her 24 goals were the third most in the nation. The 24 goals also tied a MIAC record, held by Emily Kearns of Saint Mary’s, set in the 2002-03 season.

Masten is set to return for her senior season in 2013-14 and will continue her assault on the Bethel women’s hockey record book. She needs 19 points to break the Royals all-time scoring mark of 105 points held by Bethany Murphy-Aultman (2006-09). Masten has already broken the career goal scoring mark of 50 set by Sandra Feltman (2006-09) with 55 goals in her first three seasons.

Masten was also one of seven Royals to be named All-Conference this past year.

Masten ran away with the MIAC scoring title as she set new Bethel marks in points and goals scored this season in earning her third straight All-Conference selection.
