A 45-year-old man who allegedly touched minor children in a sexual way was sentenced to jail time and 25 years of supervised probation.
Shannon LeRoy Pederson, of Fergus Falls, was sentenced Friday, March 15 in Otter Tail County District Court to 180 days in Otter Tail County Jail for one felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct (between January 2009 and November 2011) with a person at least 13 years old but less than 16 years old, and one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct (between September 2010 and Dec. 6, 2011) with a child under 13 years old. Each a separate case, the jail time will be served concurrently. He was also sentenced to 25 years of supervised probation for the third-degree charge and 15 years supervised probation for the second-degree charge.
According to the criminal complaint, a victim told an Otter Tail County detective that in October 2011, she and Pederson were sitting on a couch at night while everyone else in the residence was asleep. The victim said Pederson was drunk and high, the report says. While on the couch, Pederson reportedly leaned over and touched the victim sexually. She reportedly told him to stop and he didn’t.
According to the criminal complaint, Pederson touched the victim under 13 years old in a sexual manner Dec. 6, 2011. The victim asked him to rub her back so he would stop, the report says. The victim said Pederson does this with her friend and younger sister as well, according to the report.
