Council OKs RTC as location for SummerFest

The Fergus Falls City Council made a few items official at its meeting Monday night.

It approved the Regional Treatment Center as the location for the 2013 SummerFest. The motion included a variance for the street dance to be extended until midnight. The SummerFest committee decided it wanted to use the RTC for a second year in a row for the annual SummerFest (June 7-8) based on positive feedback, added space and potential for festival expansion.

The council approved a resolution to adopt the security and safety recommendations for the Regional Treatment Center. As part of this plan, access to the RTC for residents would be limited to the public tours offered by the Friends of the Kirkbride.

The council approved the re-appointment of Barry Heinen to the Fergus Falls Housing and Redevelopment Authority Board. Heinen will serve another five-year term starting May 1.
