Report: U of M basketball coach Tubby Smith fired

University of Minnesota men’s basketball coach Tubby Smith has been fired, according to a report from Jeff Goodman, college basketball insider at CBSsports.com.

Smith spent the past six seasons with the Gophers, coaching them to a 124-81 overall record and 46-62 record in the Big Ten. The Gophers won their opening round of the NCAA tournament Friday against UCLA by an 83-63 score but lost to Florida Sunday 78-64.
