Ruby Marie Jones (Helgeson), 89, formerly of Rothsay

Ruby Jones, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She had suffered a stroke in January and had been coping with Alzheimers since 2007.

Ruby was born in 1924, in Rothsay, to Agnes and Peter Helgeson.

She received her nursing degree from Breckenridge Catholic Nursing College during the 1940′s.

She met her husband Bill at a U.S.O. dance in Breckenridge.

Ruby worked at Fergus Falls Regional Hospital for many years until the family moved to the Sacramento and Roseville, Calif., areas in 1963.

She worked at Roseville Hospital as a staff nurse, Educator and Assistant Director of Nursing until her retirement in 1989.

She and her husband Bill built a home in rural Granite Bay in the early 70s and enjoyed entertaining family and friends and croquet tournaments and is still the family home today.

She enjoyed her family and playing cards, games, and working puzzles.

She had a strong faith in Jesus and it showed in how she cared and treated others.

She will be remembered for her tireless devotion to family and her career.

She was an excellent role model of success, personally and professionally and will be greatly missed.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her son-in-law, Ken Katheiser.

She is survived by her brother, Jason, who moved from Rothsay to live with her in 2011.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Katheiser who provided live-in care for her since 2010; Diane’s children Laini (Rob) Katheiser of San Mateo, Jon (Jennifer) Katheiser of Mission, Kansas; her son, David (Mary Ann) Jones of Granite Bay and their sons Matthew (Shawn) Jones, their daughter Hannah, Andrew (Stephanie) Jones and their son Cru all of Roseville, Calif.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.
