Do survey [UPDATED]Published 7:16am Monday, April 1, 2013 Updated 9:16am Monday, April 1, 2013
The Fergus Falls Public Library needs your help.
Members of a library task force are determining how the library can best use its resources to fill the needs of area residents. On Thursday, the task force launched a survey to help determine those needs.
For many years, the library’s role was obvious: To provide physical books, CDs, DVDs and other media that residents could borrow, and to offer spaces for reading, children’s activities and other community meetings.
These days, technology has made it possible to acquire and read books by touching a screen, and advances in digital technology suggest that electronic media will only continue to grow in popularity.
In other words, someday, there likely will be no need to go to the library simply to check out and return books.
Such a concept again brings up the point, what role do we want our library to play in the community? Does the Fergus Falls Library need more meeting space? A larger children’s area? More computers? A larger inventory of downloadable books? A coffee shop?
Only you, the Fergus Falls resident, can answer those questions.
By going to www.surveymonkey.com/s/ffpl you can fill out the survey, which takes about 10 minutes. You can also fill it out a paper survey that will be sent out through the city’s utility bills, and is available at the library and City Hall.
It is your library. You pay for it through taxes, and you visit it and use its resources. If you want to have a say, then you need to make your opinions known.
