A Bloomington man has been charged after he allegedly violated a restraining order obtained by his niece.

John Robert Goor, 43, was charged Tuesday, April 2 in Otter Tail County District Court with felony first-degree tampering with a witness and violation of a restraining order, a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, Goor violated a harassment restraining order against his niece Jan. 10 by allegedly calling her and saying, “If you testify against me, I will hurt you.” The victim got a restraining order against Goor Dec. 27, 2012 which directed him to have no contact with the victim, the report says.

There is an investigation for sexual assault charges against Goor in Hennepin County involving the victim from February 2011, according to the complaint. Goor was arrested Dec. 11, 2012 for felony interference with privacy.

A video recorder was found in a closet of a house Goor owned, which he reportedly said he used to peek at his niece five years ago when she lived with him.

Goor’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 15.
