Heart O’ Lakes Harmony presents ‘The Cotton Club’ [UPDATED]

Published 9:54am Thursday, April 4, 2013 Updated 12:16pm Thursday, April 4, 2013

The Kennedy School Auditorium will be the site of the spring show presented by the Heart O’ Lakes Harmony Men’s Chorus at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12.

“The Cotton Club” – (Where Mob Families Meet) is the theme of a show from the producers of “the Big Doo-Wop Show” and “Honkytonk Harmony.” The a cappella chorus and quartets will bring you lively vocal renditions of the music of the roaring twenties.

Featured acts include the soothing mellow music reminiscent of Nat King Cole presented by Fergus Falls very own Jerry Covington; the distinctive sounds of Kathy Brekke’s famous 42nd Street Jazz Band; and the unique dancing style of the Runestone Rockettes from Alexandria performing dance routines common to that era.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance at Victor Lundeen Company or by calling 218-862-5300. Tickets are also available at the door on the day of the show. (Children under 12 are free.)

The show will be presented at the famous Holmes Theater in Detroit Lakes on the following night — April 13. Tickets for the Detroit Lakes show are available at the Holmes Theater box office. j
