New bills will help local economy [UPDATED]Published 4:45am Monday, April 8, 2013 Updated 6:48am Monday, April 8, 2013
The Fergus Falls City Council recently approved a resolution to support four economic development bills. We at The Daily Journal back the decision and are excited about the potential growth this could create in our area.
The four bills include new employee training tax credits, expansion of the Greater Minnesota Investment Credit, an internship tax credit program and improvements to the JOBZ program.
Ensuring businesses can afford to train new employees and take on interns creates a win-win scenario for employers, employees and the economic development of Greater Minnesota.
The Angel Network and JOBZ program have brought businesses and investors into our community. As long as these programs are bringing growth to the local economy, we believe they should be given all the leeway they need.
We agree with the Council’s decision to back these bills, and we hope the state make this a reality for Greater Minnesota.
